The Mothers' Union Wall Heath Branch opened in November 1965 and, as then, we still have a thriving and very busy branch.
We meet every first Wednesday of the month at 1.30pm in the church hall.
We uphold the MU objects in our work and fellowship by baptism, sick, and bereavement visits. One of our first projects, which remains to this day, are our knitted blankets with the M.U. logo in the middle. These blankets have been sent all over the world, as well as to the sick and infirm and new-born babies at home. Added to this we knit teddies, dolls and baby clothes.
We support our local Women's Refuge in Dudley with clothes for both adults and children, toiletries, groceries and toys (have to be brand new).
We support projects at the Special Needs Unit at Russells Hall Hospital.
We have a very varied programme throughout the year, which consists of M.U. speakers, speakers from various organizations, trips out, and eating out, which is enjoyed by all!
I'm sure that Mary Sumner, the founder of the Mothers' Union would have found her personal prayer appropriate for our branch:
"All this day, O Lord, let me touch as many lives as possible for thee,
and every life I touch, do thou by thy Spirit quicken,
whether through the word I speak, the prayer I breathe, or the life I live.
What is the Mothers' Union?
The Mothers' Union is a Christian organization with more than a million members, worldwide. Though our lives and our experience of the Mothers' Union may differ widely depending on where we are, we are all joined together by our shared belief in the importance of family values.
What does the Mothers' Union do?
We run projects and activities to encourage and support families in everyday life both locally, nationally and internationally. We care about family life. and that's why activities like parenting groups and holidays for families under stress are so successful and popular. We want to be able to counteract the isolation felt by many parents in their local communities.
How can I get involved?
You can get involved in a number of ways. Whether you want to become a member of the Mothers' Union, take advantage of our services or offer your volunteer work, you will be welcomed. Various contact points are listed below, or use the email facility to register your enquiry.
Who runs these projects in my local community?
The Mothers' Union has volunteers all over the country, who give their time to important initiatives - for example, the Mothers' Union accredited Parenting Programme, and the 'Up To Speed' drugs awareness initiative in their local communities.
Who can join the Mothers' Union?
If you are baptised and you believe in the importance of family life, we would love you to join the Mothers' Union. Men and women, married and unmarried, parent or not all can, and do, join the Mothers' Union.
